The Danish Industry
Export
Marine Ingredients from Denmark play a vital role in the global market for fishmeal and fish oil—critical components in aquaculture feeds and, increasingly, in food and nutrition products. These marine-derived ingredients are in high demand worldwide due to their unique nutritional profile and sustainable sourcing.
In 2024, Denmark exported fishmeal and fish oil worth approximately DKK 6 billion (EUR 804 million), underscoring its strong position in global supply chains. Fishmeal exports reached 46 countries, generating DKK 2.61 billion (EUR 350 million), while fish oil exports reached 36 countries with a total value of DKK 3.67 billion (EUR 493 million).

These exports not only contribute significantly to Denmark’s economy but also support global aquaculture and food production by supplying high-quality, traceable marine nutrients.
Denmark ranked as the 6th largest exporter of fishmeal and the 4th largest exporter of fish oil globally in 2024. Together, fishmeal and fish oil accounted for 22% of the total value of Danish fish product exports, highlighting their strategic importance to the national seafood sector.
Norway remains the largest importer of both Danish fishmeal and fish oil, followed by key markets such as China, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, and Poland.
