Responsibility
Responsibility
The Danish fishmeal producers are dedicated to the sustainable utilization of natural resources, guided by biological advice. Our commitment includes:
- Preventing Overfishing: Ensuring that fish stocks are maintained within safe biological boundaries and undergo rigorous monitoring to prevent overfishing.
- Responsible Fish Selection: Utilizing fish with little to no demand for direct human consumption, and incorporating rest raw materials/trimmings from the filleting industry.
- Certification and Oversight: Obtaining certifications from independent third parties for both our stocks and factories, demonstrating our adherence to stringent standards. We comply with recognized organizations such as MarinTrust, MSC, and the FAO Code of Conduct.
- Environmentally Conscious Aquaculture: Our fishmeal is primarily employed in aquaculture production, known for its low environmental footprint compared to alternatives like beef and pork.
High quality products
The strategic value of Danish fishmeal and fish oil extends beyond their exceptional nutritional composition. From sea to finished product, the entire value chain is built on advanced technology, environmental responsibility, and rigorous quality control. Denmark’s marine ingredients sector continuously invests in high standards for raw material handling, sustainable sourcing, product safety, and full traceability—ensuring both the integrity of the product and the sustainability of the ecosystem.
Key features include:
- Modern vessels with cutting-edge cooling equipment: Advanced onboard cooling systems preserve raw material freshness from catch to processing.
- Pelagic fishing with low ecosystem impact: Fishing practices are based on scientific advice from ICES and focus on midwater species, minimizing seabed disturbance and bycatch.
- Full traceability for species and origin: Complete supply chain transparency ensures that all raw materials can be verified by species and geographic origin.
- Advanced production and rinsing facilities: State-of-the-art equipment removes persistent organic pollutants and supports clean, high-quality output.
- Contaminant-free products: Products are consistently monitored to remain free from pathogens, mycotoxins, natural toxins, and other undesirable substances.
- Comprehensive quality testing: Rigorous controls are applied at every stage of production—from raw material intake to final shipment.
- ISO-certified processes: Production facilities operate under ISO certification, demonstrating compliance with international standards for safety, quality, and consistency.
Health benefits
Fishmeal and fish oil have long been recognized as valuable components in various industries, from aquaculture to animal nutrition and even human health. The rich nutritional profile of these marine products is attributed to their unique composition of essential fatty acids, proteins and micronutrients.
Protein-Rich Nutritional Powerhouses
Fishmeal’s distinction as a superior protein source stems from its rich and balanced amino acid profile. Comprising all essential amino acids required for optimal growth and development, fishmeal offers a complete and highly digestible protein source. The digestibility of fishmeal protein is a critical factor, as it ensures that the amino acids are efficiently absorbed and utilized by animals, promoting growth and enhancing metabolic efficiency.
Essential Fatty Acids for Human Health
Fish oil is renowned for its omega-3 fatty acid content. These essential fatty acids, specifically EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), play crucial roles in cardiovascular health, brain function, and anti-inflammatory processes. The Scientific literature consistently highlights the positive impact of omega-3 fatty acids on human health. EPA for its role in lower blood pressure, conferring anti-inflammatory effects on the cardiovascular system. Whilst DHA is a major structural component of the brain, playing a crucial role in cognitive development and maintenance.
Strategic feed ingredients

With an increasing emphasis on circular production, fishmeal and fish oil stand unrivaled as the most invaluable components in the diets of both aquaculture and various terrestrial animals. Their composition of essential micronutrients, encompassing amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, plays a pivotal role in supporting optimal growth and physiological functions in animals and farmed fish, rendering fishmeal and fish oil irreplaceable in the realm of feed ingredients. In addition to their nutritional value, fishmeal and fish oil have a comparatively low climate footprint—especially when sourced from well-managed fisheries and trimmings—making them an efficient and environmentally responsible choice in modern feed production.
