Code of Conduct
At Marine Ingredients Denmark (MID), we are committed to responsibility, sustainability, and collaboration within the industry. To uphold these values, we have updated our Code of Conduct to ensure clear guidelines for weighing procedures and species control during landings and deliveries to Danish fishmeal and fish oil producers. Our Code of Conduct enhances transparency and efficiency in reporting and reinforces cooperation with authorities and research institutions. It also clarifies the requirements for accredited third-party inspection companies, which play a crucial role in sampling, species control, and weighing processes at our member factories.
To ensure consistency, MID members require standardized reporting forms from inspection companies. These forms make data easier to recognize and understand across all landings. Additionally, the registration of bycatch from Danish vessels now includes the number of individuals per species. The final landing report for Danish vessels must also include the relevant logbook page number for the delivered catch.
To improve compliance with reporting requirements and strengthen cooperation with authorities, video surveillance will be implemented during sampling, species sorting, unloading, and weighing processes. The Fisheries Control Authority will have real-time access to this surveillance and input on camera placement and quantity.
A new addition to the latest Code of Conduct ensures that fish samples collected from Danish vessels for DTU (Technical University of Denmark) are now handled by third-party inspection companies. This initiative guarantees that the research community has consistent access to essential fish samples. The latest Code of Conduct also establishes equal conditions for Norwegian vessels landing pelagic fish in Denmark for fishmeal and fish oil production, aligning them with Danish vessels.
